I’d like to think of Ed’s situation as this: you have three best friends, we’ll say two girls and a guy. They all know and trust each other very well, always do stuff either in pairs or as a group. Girl A and Boy decide they want to date. Those two keep their romantics to themselves when they’re alone, and when all three go out together, they keep it to a bare minimum so as not to make Girl B feel embarrassed or out-of-place. And the three ALWAYS go out together still. The relationship doesn’t stop their friendship.
That’s how I see Ed with Double D and Eddy’s relationship. The latter two would NEVER let Ed feel left out. They’ve been together for so long that it would be cruel and disloyal of them to abandon him. All of the intimate questions and requests I’ve drawn so far I consider what they do in private. In public, there’s hardly a difference from when they were kids. Plus, since Ed is dating May, there’s oodles of options for double dates.
So to answer your question, no, they would never let Ed feel left out. :3 They care about him just as much as each other.
